SportOrbit combines data we curate ourselves with several external sources. Data depth varies by league – not all of our 79 leagues currently have full player profiles; some initially show only roster names.
Hand-researched and maintained: league structure, clubs, locations, rosters. Supplemented with championship history from Wikidata.
Football: football-data.org. Basketball, ice hockey, handball, volleyball, rugby, cricket, baseball: Highlightly (sports.highlightly.net). Not available for every league – in that case we show curated base data only.
RSS feeds from established sports newsrooms (including Sportschau, kicker, BBC Sport, The Guardian, Sky Sports). Some summaries are AI-assisted and reviewed editorially before publishing.
OpenStreetMap, queried via the Overpass API.
NASA Earth Observatory (“Earth at Night” / Black Marble) for the night-lights texture, country borders from Natural Earth. Both public domain.
SportOrbit is an independent, private project and is not officially affiliated with the leagues, associations or clubs shown. There is no partnership, licence or commissioned relationship.
Player, team and league names as well as statistics are named for informational purposes only. Names, crests and trademarks are the property of their respective owners. In case of doubt, the official information published by the leagues and clubs prevails.
What this means for the accuracy of the data shown here is set out in the limitation of liability in the Terms of Use.
