How is Cricket played?

A match consists of innings – 1 or 2 per team depending on the format. A batsman hits the bowler's delivery, runs back and forth between the wickets to score runs, or hits it over the boundary (4 or 6 runs). They are dismissed (out) by being bowled, caught, LBW, etc.

What are the rules of Cricket?

• LBW (Leg Before Wicket): a batsman may not block the ball with their leg
• No ball: an illegal delivery by the bowler = an extra run and a free hit
• Wide: a delivery too far from the batsman = an extra run
• DRS (Decision Review System): teams can challenge umpire decisions
• 10 wickets for a team = the innings ends

Helmet, leg pads, gloves, abdomen guard (batsman); bowler: no protective gear

How long does a game of Cricket last?

Test cricket: up to 5 days; ODI: approx. 7–8 hours; T20: approx. 3.5 hours
