How is Ice Hockey played?

Played on an ice rink (approx. 60 × 26 m) in three periods of 20 minutes each. Teams change their skaters every 40–60 seconds (line changes). The puck may only be played with the stick or the body.

What are the rules of Ice Hockey?

• Icing: illegally shooting the puck across two lines without it being touched
• Offside: an attacker may not cross the attacking blue line before the puck
• Penalties: 2-minute (minor), 5-minute (major), or game misconduct; the team plays shorthanded
• Sticks may only be swung up to shoulder height (no high-sticking)
• Body checks against an opponent carrying the puck are allowed; stick-checking to the body is not

What equipment do you need for Ice Hockey?

Skates, helmet with visor, shoulder/elbow/leg pads, gloves; goalkeeper: full protective gear and a catching glove
