How is Handball played?

Played indoors in two halves of 30 minutes each. The attacking team passes and dribbles the ball to create a scoring chance; shots are taken jumping or from a standing position.

What are the rules of Handball?

• Three-step rule: a maximum of 3 steps with the ball without dribbling
• Passive play warning signals that the attacking phase must be concluded soon
• The goal area may only be entered by the goalkeeper
• Yellow card, 2-minute suspension, or red card for offenses
• A 7-meter throw (equivalent to a penalty) is awarded for denying a clear scoring chance in the goal area

What equipment do you need for Handball?

Jersey, shorts, indoor shoes; goalkeeper: gloves and special gear optional

How long does a game of Handball last?

2 × 30 min.; in knockout matches, 2 × 5 min. extra time, then a penalty shootout
