Two teams of seven pass the ball — never running with it — into their own shooting circle and from there through the ring. Every position may only move within certain zones of the court.
Under the World Netball standard, a successful shot by GS or GA from inside the goal circle scores one goal; the team with more goals after four quarters wins.
A rectangular court of 30.5 × 15.25 m and two padded 3.05 m posts carrying 380 mm rings with open nets.
4 × 15 minutes (60 minutes in regulation)
According to World Netball the sport’s characteristic zones go back to a misunderstanding: Clara Baer received a sketch of a basketball court in which the lines were read as fixed zone boundaries.
