How is Volleyball played?

Played under the rally-point system: every rally earns one team a point. A set goes to 25 points (at least a 2-point lead), the deciding 5th set to 15. Each side may touch the ball a maximum of 3 times before it must cross over.

What are the rules of Volleyball?

• A double contact on a set or dig is not allowed (except directly after a block touch)
• Touching the net = loss of point
• Libero (defensive specialist): may only play in the back row, no attack hits over the net
• Serve rotation: players rotate clockwise after each won serve
• A block touch counts as a team contact (max. 2 more may follow)

What equipment do you need for Volleyball?

Jersey, shorts, indoor shoes; knee pads recommended; the libero wears a different colored jersey

How long does a game of Volleyball last?

No time limit; a typical match: 1–2 hours (3 or 5 sets)

What is special about Volleyball?

In beach volleyball, only 2 players per team play on sand – the format became Olympic for the first time in Atlanta in 1996.
